Slow Food Columbia is one of 200+ Slow Food USA chapters, located in Columbia, South Carolina. Our mission is to support the movement behind GOOD, CLEAN and FAIR foodways in the Midlands and beyond. Our convivium hosts workshops, potlucks and other events throughout the year to celebrate local + seasonal flavors; to showcase the culinary talents of our region's chefs, farmers, + artisan producers; to strengthen connections between members of our local food community; and to educate the public about the importance of knowing where your food comes from.

Our next meeting: Monday April 19 at City Roots farm!

Our monthly Slow Food Columbia meeting is coming up again this Monday April 19, now with a new, ongoing location!

Come one, come all!

Monday, April 19th
(and every third Monday)
City Roots
"Your In-Town Sustainable Farm"
1005 Airport Blvd
(across from Owens Field, next to Aramark)
Columbia, SC 29205

City Roots is where we threw our last Slow Food party, which was a great, sold-out  success! Look for more events in late May and late June; sign up for our email list if you haven't already! (Link is in upper right corner of this blog.)

What is Slow Food all about? Read this quick list of FAQs at the Slow Food USA website.

Our chapter meetings are informal, casual, and follow a short agenda of current initiatives, such as our project to help enable the USC Farmers' Market to accept food stamps/EBT/SNAP benefits, as well as a summer fundraiser to send two local farmers to Turin, Italy for the Slow Food International Terra Madre world meeting this Fall.

Non-members are heartily encouraged to attend our meetings!

We'd love you to get involved in any way you like, be it as a volunteer, a visionary, a benefactor, a promoter, or simply a member of our friendly, ever-growing Slow Food community. Of course, we welcome new Slow Food memberships with warmth and enthusiasm.

Come learn how Slow Food Columbia is contributing to the mission of promoting Good, Clean and Fair food in the Midlands, and meet some of our key members, including local farmers, educators, professionals, restaurateurs, chefs, hospitality industry pros, and progressive-minded people of all ages and stations.

It's a great group! We'd love to have you.

Slow Food meeting, every 3rd Monday, 6:30pm, City Roots urban farm, Columbia, South Carolina
