Slow Food Columbia is one of 200+ Slow Food USA chapters, located in Columbia, South Carolina. Our mission is to support the movement behind GOOD, CLEAN and FAIR foodways in the Midlands and beyond. Our convivium hosts workshops, potlucks and other events throughout the year to celebrate local + seasonal flavors; to showcase the culinary talents of our region's chefs, farmers, + artisan producers; to strengthen connections between members of our local food community; and to educate the public about the importance of knowing where your food comes from.

We're pretty excited about our new Tasty Tomato Festival...

We are so excited about our festival tomorrow! Don't miss out on 1/2 off tickets by going here to purchase. Tomorrow at the door tickets will be $10, kids still free!

What to bring:


  • your inspired, favorite, or something wacky you just found a recipe for (Chocolate Green Tomato Cake??!!) Tomato based potluck dish
  • picnic snacks
  • camp chairs and blankets
We will have a cash bar with local Thomas Creek and RJ Rockers beers, sustainably packaged white and red wine, and water for sale, as well as Firefly vodka Bloody Marys whipped up by Brad Weeks of Spotted Salamander Catering.

Plan to stay after the festival as we will be showing Attack of the Killer Tomatoes for free after dark on the barn wall!

Also, live music; a "make your own tomato sandwich" table; Commercial tomato skee ball and tomato bobbing; Earth Fare is doing cooking demos; The Half and Half is selling art prints of the gorgeous poster they designed for us; S + S Art Supply is running a kids' art table; and we're getting killer locally grown heirloom tomatoes from Rodger's Heirlooms and Rosewood Market for you to taste side-by-side with those commercially bred 'maters!
